It’s so funny that I day after day I easily write all sorts of stuff: about writing, creativity, business and the like, and then develop and teach workshops with this material.
But I am living with a frustrating paradox. Or is it an irony? Or is it just writer’s block?
Confession: I find it so freaking difficult to write workshop descriptions.
Why I think this is particularly ironic is that, ahem, I am a “marketing person”. I’ve been a writer/designer in advertising for more years than I care to admit. My MBA focused on marketing. I happen to excel at writing stuff for other people’s marketing efforts. In other words, I should really be able to do this, shouldn’t I?
I have joked about this, saying that writing your own marketing copy is like trying to be your own therapist.
Why am I struggling with this so much? Please don’t tell me it’s because I have “an energy block*”. That won’t help me, unless you can also magically remove it for me.
SOS
Here’s how you can help me. (Besides just writing my workshop descriptions for me, which would be a lovely thing.)
You could, if you are willing to give me less than 2 minutes (more) of your time, answer just 2 questions. This will help me come up with a good name for my upcoming retreat. I call it 2 for 2 for your 2 cents. Or 2 sense, if you will.
A little about the workshop.
Warning: I’m blocked right now. These are just thoughts, not prose:
I know that this particular workshop retreat is made up of the best, most powerful creative activities I’ve developed so far. It goes way beyond art journaling or visual journaling to encompass writing, painting, photography, collage, sketching: all of the mixed media goodies, with a transformational orientation. You know, making, but with meaning.
If you are familiar with my workshops or teaching style, you understand what happens in these experiences. If you haven’t yet studied with me, I want to write in a way that really conveys to you the excitement and wonder of what you’ll get: creative tools you will take away to use for a life time of rich, unique, absolutely authentic expression that serves your higher purpose.
Whew! So can you help me find a title and subtitle for my upcoming retreat next year in Mexico?

I will keep you posted on the results, and keep this conversation flowing. Feel free to add your own wisdom on this in the comments. Thank you for reading. Y’all rock!
p.s. My apologies to the amazing Sam at Hacienda Mosaico who is hosting my retreat. Who I keep telling: Will get you the workshop description…tomorrow. Next week. ugh. This is so embarrassing.
*I just had the unfortunate experience of a respected marketing guru who I took a class on branding from tell me that the reason I wasn’t getting the intended results from her course was because I had an energy block.
